2. Purpose of Request
To receive an acknowledgment from the City of Ames, IA, and the Ames, IA Police Department regarding Police Chief Huff’s decision to remain silent regarding correspondence he received requesting records regarding an incident reported to the Ames, IA Police Department in December 2020. An Incident involving children concealed in his jurisdiction from court-ordered appearances at San Diego, CA East County Superior Court as ordered by Honorable Judge Martin on 05 JUN 2019. FCS Child Interviews ordered for these children to provide testimony regarding allegations of sexual abuse these conspirators utilized while concealing these children from the court having jurisdiction, court-appointed Minor’s Counsel Meredith Levin, and their father.
John 1:1 – 1:5 states:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
John 3:19 – 3:21 states:
“This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.”
The time that the City of Ames, IA and the Ames, IA Police Department chose to conceal records regarding these reported incidents while Chief of Police Huff lacks the courage to speak about them provides evidence it operates in darkness.
I am telling you the truth when I say if it is God’s will, I will bring this agency into the light so that people can see Ames, IA Police Department’s historical record documenting its failure to bring accountability to citizens in its jurisdiction that chose to conceal court-ordered witnesses in Ames, IA from appearing in San Diego, CA to provide testimony regarding the allegations of sexual abuse used to conceal them. At the same time, violating these children’s right to have a relationship with their father as protected by Iowa Code Chapter 598.1, which states:
“1. “Best interest of the child” includes but is not limited to the opportunity for maximum continuous physical and emotional contact possible with both parents, unless direct physical or significant emotional harm to the child may result from this contact. Refusal by one parent to provide this opportunity without just cause shall be considered harmful to the best interest of the child.”
I will not allow Police Chief Huff’s leadership of the Ames, IA Police Department to damage another child’s life with his disregard for the rights each citizen is guaranteed in accordance with the 14th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America. At the same time, he turns his eyes away from those that violate court orders, our laws, and the rights of other citizens.
Respectfully,
Michael J. Merritt, USN Retired/Writer
