1. Introduction
Ryan Eaton communicated in electronic mail on 12 APR 2023, “The day you started stalking county employees and mapping their locations and times, I received several phone calls complaining and asking me to stop it. I untagged the posts and you replied “Nice try” and reapplied them. I contacted Facebook and they suggested I simply block you. Sorry it does not fit your last 8 months of all these elected officials trying to silence you. It was simply to protect county employees. Really is came down to economics. It is cheaper for the county to be sued by 1 and explain in court why I took action than to be sued by 9 employees of the office you tagged for ignoring their employee safety complaints.”
2. Requested Information
(a.) Jasper County, IA, is requested to provide the recording with dispatcher R30 at approximately 0200 on 14 APR 2023.
(b.) Jasper County, IA, is requested to provide a clear, readable version of the redacted evidence screenshot Mr. Eaton sent to the originator of this request, Jasper County, IA Attorney Nicholson, Jasper County, IA Supervisor Talsma, and Jasper County, IA Supervisor Cupples on 12 APR 2023 shown in Enclosure (1.). At the same time, accusing Michael J. Merritt of stalking Jasper County, IA employees.
3. Conclusion
The originator of this request would like to thank Dispatcher R30 for her professionalism and patience in listening to the report the originator provided. Unfortunately, the originator of this request has noticed evidence of a paradigm of unqualified authoritarian arrogance within some law enforcement communities that produces a lack of professionalism in speaking before taking the time to listen to the individual to whom they are responding.
The originator of this request is intrigued regarding why his public post included in Mr. Eaton’s 12 APR 2023 electronic mail was redacted while he attempted to establish a criminal allegation against the originator of this request. At the same time, Mr. Eaton chose to include the chief law enforcement officer of Jasper County, IA, in his correspondence accusing the originator of this correspondence of violating Iowa Code Section 708.11.
